The City of Orono recently awarded the 2023 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project project to Hydro-Klean. As part of this project, Hydro-Klean will be installing cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) liners in the City’s existing sanitary sewer system. These liners will help prevent the infiltration of groundwater into the sanitary sewer system as well as rehabilitate the structural integrity of this critical piece of public infrastructure.
See the map below for properties/businesses that may be impacted by this work. During the installation of the liner, the sanitary sewer service will be temporarily blocked while the mainline sewer liner is installed. Following the successful curing of the liner, a robot cutting device will be placed in the newly lined pipe to internally reinstate/cut-out individual service connection.
On the day a property is impacted, you will not be able to utilize the sanitary sewer lateral from approximately 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. During this service disruption time we ask that you do not utilize water in your residence (shower, dishwasher, washing machine, toilets, etc.) as your sanitary sewer lateral will not be able to convey flow to the main line until your connection is opened back up.
Please contact us right away if you have concerns with this outage or would like to discuss potential alternative arrangements for your property.
The contractor plans to begin this project in early July and should complete the entire project by early August. The contractor will provide 24 hour notice of the exact timing of specific impact to your property with a door hanger. Please watch for a door hanger which will notify you of your anticipated service disruption date.
