Sanitary Sewer
Public works utilities is responsible for inspecting and maintaining the collection system infrastructure and the sanitary lift stations and ensuring uninterrupted collection of wastewater.

The City of Orono has nearly 50 miles of roadway that it is responsible for maintaining.

Water
The City of Orono maintains a municipal water system consisting of 34 miles of water main, two treatment plants, four wells, 278 Hydrants and 266 Valves.

Public Works Services
Other Public Works Services the City provides include the leaf & grass drop-off site, wood chips, mulch, and compost site, and the residential brush site. Start date for these services is April 3, 2023.

I & I Inspection - Point of Sale
The City of Orono requires property owners to obtain a Certificate of Inflow & Infiltration (I/I) Compliance from the City before selling or transferring title of property. Inspection of a sewer service line is required when a property connected to the city sanitary sewer is sold (Point of Sale). Properties that don’t pass inspection will be issued a correction notice.
