Community Service Officer
The Orono Police Department has Community Service Officers (CSO), whose primary duty is to handle animal control problems throughout the jurisdiction of the Orono Police Deptartment The CSO jurisdiction covers Orono, Mound, Minnetonka Beach, and Spring Park.
Ordinances Related to Dogs
Each city has an ordinance that states dogs are not allowed to roam off the property of the owner unless under the control of the owner on a leash.
If a dog is found in violation of the ordinance, the dog may possibly be impounded to a kennel and the owner fined.
A kennel license must be purchased if a homeowner has 3 or more dogs (Section 62-181).
Lost/Found Dogs
If you have a found dog or your dog went missing. Call the Orono PD office at 952-249-4700 and the non-emergency dispatch at 952-258-5321 to report the found or missing dog. .
Impounded Dogs
When dogs are found within Orono, Spring Park, Mound, and Minnetonka Beach and owners are not located in a short period of time, dogs are impounded to:
